A Great Time Together: Ways to Plan a Successful Family Vacation

A family trip is a perfect opportunity to spend some quality time together and enjoy each other’s company, but there are a few things you might need to do when planning your vacation so that the time away is a great success.

Here are some tips to help you improve your chances of enjoying an amazing vacation that everyone will remember for all the right reasons, including why it helps to talk about your plans, a good mix and match strategy, plus a sensible idea to give everyone some space.

Get the kids involved

Unless you have very young children it is always a good idea to involve your children in the planning of your family trip. Depending on the age of your child you could take many different trips. Younger children might want a more relaxing time, a safer time for them, while older children might want to take a more exciting trip. Considering trips like white water rafting in Colorado or zip-lining would bring the whole family a lot closer from the experience.

There are various good reasons why that is a sensible strategy. When kids feel included in the planning stage of the trip they will have a much better understanding and appreciation of what’s involved and they get a chance to say what they would like to do while you are away.

The sense of anticipation and the chance to talk together about your plans can be the start of the bonding process that will continue into the holiday itself and by getting everyone involved you can quickly identify any potential issues before you finalize your plans.

Balancing everyone’s needs

A family trip has to be just that, a vacation that doesn’t just suit the interests and needs of one person but an adventure that manages to find a suitable balance between what everyone might want individually.

If you line up a holiday that doesn’t offer much for the kids in terms of entertainment and facilities that would not be a smart move, but equally, arranging a vacation that is solely focused on keeping the kids entertained is going to leave you as the parents feeling underwhelmed by the experience and wanting more.

Talk about all aspects of the trip as a family and if you are booking accommodation, like the Fairfield Inn and Suites Marriott, for example, and making plans for sightseeing trips while you are in the area, share the excitement and the anticipation with each other.

Leave some time in the day

Despite the fact that you are all going on a family trip you don’t have to spend every minute of the day with each other, especially if you have some different things you would like to do for part of the day.

If mom likes the idea of a relaxing morning spent at the hotel without rushing out of the door then there is no reason why you couldn’t schedule an adventure with dad taking the kids somewhere for the part of the day and then meeting up later.

As well as giving everyone a chance to get a bit of a mini-break you don’t have to feel that every part of the day has to be planned, or you could end up returning from the trip feeling like you haven’t rested at all.

Buying a Car: New or Used?

Of course, there are advantages to buying your vehicle new. There’s the warranty, the new tires, and you mustn’t forget that new-car smell – but how much can you expect to save by buying a used car?

How Much Are You Saving?

It’s difficult to compare the price of a new car with a used car, even of the same model, because the used car is always going to be older and there’s no real way of knowing how the last owner treated it. However, if you can see from the documents that the previous owner only had the car a short amount of time, and all seems to be in working order, the difference in price will seem much greater to you; but you’ll find yourself wondering why the previous owner got rid of it so quickly. Was there a fault the warranty wouldn’t cover? Is it just an awkward car to drive?  Is it really a saving in the long run? Well, the only way to know is to buy it.

Should You Use a Dealership?

If your worst fears come true, and within a week you know exactly why the previous owner got shot of it, then you’ll be wishing that you had bought your used car from a dealership such as Nissan of San Marcos. Dealerships make sure that all their cars are in tip top condition before selling them, so if ever there was problem, a team of mechanics can be on hand – a far preferable situation to having to trying to remember the address you first saw the car parked outside, and hoping the seller is still as reasonable as they seemed when they were selling it to you.

Even if you’re sure you want to buy a new car, spending the day at a dealership with a huge range of models can be beneficial. You can test drive as many as you need to, and you can talk the decision over with a professional who understands your situation. If you’re looking for a BMW Edinburgh is home to a huge showroom with as much choice as you could possibly want, whether you’re buying new or used.

Will You Get a Good Deal?

There are advantages to both. If you’re buying new then you’re paying for a warranty and a guarantee of reliability, but if you buy a nearly new car then you can cash in on some of the other perks without the new-car price; up-to-date safety and luxury features, as well as the added efficiency that a newer model buys you. If you buy a used car, there’s the advantage that the price won’t drop dramatically if you come to sell it on. Even if you decide you hate the car, you can sell it and buy another, or even part-exchange it in no time at all. Whatever you do, make sure there is somewhere you can come back to if you have a complaint or any trouble at all with your car.

Buying a new family car is an important decision and one that you generally have to live with for a number of years. Therefore, it is really important that you don’t take this decision lightly, as you could end up with a car that causes no end of bother and greatly cost you. When you are looking for a new car, it is always a good idea to read some reviews from car experts and people who have already bought the car. One of the great things about the Internet is that you have access to loads of review and expert websites that can help you to make your decision.

There are obviously a number of factors to take into consideration when you get your next car. Factors like how fuel-efficient the car is, whether it has a warranty; when the tax is due, how quickly it accelerates or how well it handles should all form part of the decision process.

Here are some of the best options available right now if you are looking for a new family car:

Kia Soul – This compact yet surprisingly spacious car is a popular choice for small families. Because it is one of the more affordable cars on the market, it is a great option if you are keeping to a budget. The shape of the car ensures that it offers more passenger comfort than your typical car in the compact category.

Honda Civic – The Honda Civic is also a popular choice in the compact car category. Priced a bit higher than the Kia Soul, but offering a large amount of space and the best fuel economy in its class.

Hyundai i20 – Another great car if you are looking to keep your budget low, the Hyundai i20 is turbocharged and also boasts intelligent safety systems, touch screen navigation and parking sensors. For a small car, it is surprisingly comfortable and a popular choice for small families. You can find one which is cost effective at notable dealerships such as Autotrader.

Chevrolet Malibu – Chevrolet have always provided excellent standards for family cars and the Chevrolet Malibu is largely regarded as the top midsize car available right now. The infotainment system is also a big selling point for this stylish, reliable car.

Remember when you are looking for a new car that there are a number of factors that you should be looking at. It can be easy to be influenced by cost alone, but sometimes opting for the lower priced vehicles can actually end up costing you much more in running costs and maintenance.

Make sure that you do your research to work out which car will suit your family the best and check out as many reviews on your choice as you possibly can. A few years with the wrong car can feel like a very long time, so set out your main priorities and don’t let them be swayed when you get into the car dealership. Do You Need Excess Insurance?

image1

Do You Need Excess Insurance

If you have ever hired a car before – in this country or anywhere else in the world – you are going to be aware of the often very high excess typically incorporated into the rental company’s car hire insurance package.

In their publication entitled “What you should know about renting a car in Europe in 2016”, car rental agents for Germany, Switzerland and Austria, Gemut.com issue a two-fold warning:

  • the amount of the excess (or “deductible” in US parlance) may be very high indeed, usually between US$1,000 and US$3,000; and
  • the cost of protecting that liability with many car rental companies’ excess insurance packages adds a significant daily charge to the cost of hiring your car.

The awkward conclusion you might draw, therefore, is that yes you probably do need hire car excess insurance (as a defence against a possible US$3,000 or more than £2,000 liability), but still have to pay a hefty price for that necessary protection.

There is a solution

Having recognised that you might do well to arrange excess insurance protection, the good news is that the cover is available at a considerably more competitive rate from independent, UK-based providers, such as Bettersafe, who are able to offer potentially more comprehensive cover with greater value for money – research conducted by Bettersafe, for example, suggests that you might need to pay more than £30 a day for excess protection sold by some of the leading car rental chains.

This may be purchased simply and quickly online by payment of a single premium, providing excess protection throughout your car hire period abroad. The price of those premiums reflects the different risks likely to be faced in various parts of the world, so that you pay choose the region to which you are travelling and pay the appropriate rate for those countries only.

If you have an accident or the car is stolen and you are then charged an excess, you simply claim reimbursement of that cost once you have arrived back home – so you need to remember to bring the supporting document relating to the incident home with you.

Standalone excess insurance from these independent providers is also likely to offer more extensive cover, which, unlike many of the products sold by the car rental companies themselves, does not exclude damage to areas of the vehicle such as the undercarriage, wheel, tyres, windows and roof.

Provided that the drivers are aged between 21 and 85 years, it is also generally possible to include these additional drivers under the same excess insurance protection policy.

If you are a frequent traveller, you might make even further savings by arranging annual, multi-trip excess insurance protection. On a trip by trip basis, this is likely to prove still more economical that arranging cover for just one period of car hire and, of course, you then have the peace of mind in knowing that any liability for paying high excess charges is safely protected however often you go abroad and need to hire a car.

Summer Travelling with Kids in Fashion: 5 Key Pieces to Take Along for a Fabulous Vacation

image1

Travelling with kids always means packing a lot of bags and carrying a lot of luggage. Children need proper clothes, toys, and gear, especially if they are very young, and more often than not, mothers neglect their own luggage to make room for everything the kids need when vacationing. But there are at least five pieces of clothing and accessories you must take to feel like a million bucks no matter if you go on a road trip, a city break, a two-week beach resort retreat or a sightseeing tour.

You don’t need to pack much, and you don’t need to take yet another suitcase to host your entire wardrobe, as these five essentials will cover all your styling and fashion needs.

1. A Pair of Nude Summer Sandals

Family in the park

If you plan to walk a lot or to spend lazy days on a beach and fun nights at the hotel’s pool bar, a pair of nude summer sandals is your best friend. Nude flat strappy sandals go with everything you already packed, be it a light white summer dress or a pair of jeans for colder days. Being independent of color schemes and types of clothing (sporty, casual or elegant), your nude sandals will make your legs look longer and thinner. You can wear them while you do some sightseeing, visit parks, and zoos, making a terrific choice if you want to spend a romantic moment (after the kids went to bed) at dinner with your husband.

2. A Little Summer Black Dress

Outdoor summer fashion sexy hot portrait woman

Just like the nude sandals, the little black dress can take you out to dinner, to the beach, to the amusement park, downtown shopping or visiting friends and family. The little black dress is an essential item for any type of trip so you can look forever fresh and stylish according to the occasion or the mood you are in. It can be styled in an elegant manner, a sporty way, or a casual chic one, and it doesn’t take up too much space in your luggage. Pick one that compliments your body type, shape, and features and make sure it has a knee-length so you can wear it in casual or formal contexts.

3. A Pearl Jewelry Piece

3. Pearl bracelet

When you travel with kids, the last things on your mind are your beloved accessories. You need to pack the kids’ clothes, shoes, games, medicine, and emergency items and so on, especially if you travel in foreign countries. You probably don’t have enough space to pack jewelry, but take one pearl piece with you. Pearls are forever fashionable, timeless pieces that go with anything from jeans and sneakers to little black dresses or comfy overalls. If you pack an elegant white freshwater pearls bracelet, for instance, you won’t need other accessories. Style up a summer dress for a fancy beach resort party or a casual city-break outfit and look stylish and elegant no matter where you go.

4. A Backpack

If you already have a long traveling with kids packing list, don’t even consider taking a purse or different types of bags. Travelling with children requires a backpack to keep at hand everything you need for them and for you as well. Now if you really want to travel in style, take leather or a stylish canvas backpack instead of a sporty one to match your sightseeing, dinner or party outfit. A backpack goes great when road-tripping, but if you left the kids at the hotel’s kids club and entertainment center, and you want to have a nice evening out at the theatre with your husband, the backpack can turn into a stylish accessory if you wear the right clothes.

5. A Summer Hat

This is a practical item which also happens to be a stylish one. Summer usually comes with sun rays and blazing heat so don’t forget to take a cute straw hat or a nice fedora, together with the caps and hats you already prepared for the children. A chic hat can style up an outfit and can be worn even in the evening. Keep yourself safe from sun rays, heat and discomfort and spice up your vacation look without taking up too much space in the family luggage.

Private Blue Cruise in Turkey

Fall in Love with a Private Blue Cruise in Turkey

Private Blue Cruise in Turkey

One of the most exciting ways to explore the beautiful azure blue waters surrounding the southwestern coastline of Turkey is on a blue cruise, but what is even better is when it is a tailor-made adventure just for you.

Whether you are traveling with an old flame, recently fell in love or searching to meet a special someone then look no further than taking a private blue cruise Turkey with Alaturka Yachting and Cruises.

Private Blue Cruise in Turkey

The Ideal Gulet

The most difficult part will be deciding which Turkish yacht or gulet will best suite your desires.

Alaturka Cruises offers gulets for all budgets so you will certainly find what you want.

Standard gulets have all amenities to make your blue cruise comfortable including cabins with private bathrooms, sunbeds on the front deck, a shaded lounge, community fridge/freezer and bar area, and plenty of onboard games and sea activity equipment such as snorkeling gear and fishing poles.

The mid-range gulets include all amenities, but have more spacious bathrooms, modern interiors and air conditioning in the cabins.

For the ultimate blue cruise experience, luxury and deluxe yachts will provide the perfect setting for a romantic getaway. All gulets are equipped with TVs and DVD players for those that prefer to stay electronically connected, or a Jacuzzi on the upper deck for those who wish to sip champagne while soaking in the warm water under the stars.

Time to Set Sail

Now that you are on your gulet of choice, let’s hit the open seas and explore the Turquoise Coast.

Activities are plentiful while onboard whether you want to darken up your suntan while reading a romance novel, play poker with a special someone or drink a cold beer while reminiscing of past times.

If you want to discover the underwater world then grab your loved one and snorkeling gear to explore the lush marine life of the Mediterranean and Aegean seas. Experienced divers should be sure to make Kas a stop on your cruise to observe the Uluburun shipwreck from the Bronze Age or the WWII bomber plane near Flying Fish Reef. The plane lies at 58 meters (190’) so this is a dive for experienced lovers only.

Another fun-filled activity for couples is indulging in the mud baths in Dalyan. Help your loved one exfoliate by covering their body in warm mud infused with healing oils. Taking a dip in the sulfur pool feels amazing, but the smell is less than romantic.

Private Blue Cruise in Turkey

The Most Amorous Sunsets

It goes without saying that sipping wine while watching the sun set over the sea is about as romantic as it can get, however with one of the many blue cruise destinations you can be surrounded by ancient history during this idealistic moment.

Most blue cruises make an overnight stop at St. Nicholas Island as the only way to get to the island is by boat. Pack your drink of choice and hike to the top of the hill to watch the beautiful sunset over the Aegean Sea.

The surrounding area of Demre is fantastic in many ways with the turquoise waters surrounding the partially sunken island of Kekova. Take photos next to the partially submerged Lycian rock tomb then hike up to Simena Castle and watch the sky fill with pink hues as the day comes to an end.

If you prefer to be served while watching the sun put herself to sleep, then have a romantic dinner at Panorama Restaurant in downtown Kas for a stunning view of Meis island and the beautiful blue sea. Be sure to indulge in the chocolate volcano dessert to finish off your date.

The Taste of Love

Of course so many of us love food, however the delightful flavors of this region in Turkey will leave a sweet taste in your mouth.

El Vino Restaurant located in Bodrum serves unique and seasonal dishes served with locally produced organic wine. The panoramic view from the rooftop terrace is special as Bodrum Castle shines brightly at night adding to the romantic feel of the marina below.

If you want to enjoy the rich taste of Turk kahvesi or Turkish coffee, then a stop at Bayramefendi Osmanli Kahvecisi in Fethiye should be part of your plan.  Have the traditional coffee or get an added flavor such as chocolate, melon, hazelnut or caramel for a splash of modernity with this historically Ottoman drink. Damla sikizli is a gum-like resin that comes from the mastic tree, which is native to this region, and put into Turkish coffee as a special flavor from the coast.

For those that enjoy sexy food then make a reservation at Vanilla in Kaleici, the old town in the center of Antalya. Sleek, modern designs cozy up to Ottoman style architecture in this popular restaurant. Try the luscious goat cheese and walnut tagliatelle or share a bacon and pineapple pizza with your lover. Round out the meal with the decadent Turkish specialty baklava.
