pic

You would be hard pressed to find someone nowadays that does not have a smartphone or mobile.  Because of this increase in powerful, compact technology and gadgets, there has been an increase in the last decade of the number of mobile gambling and especially relevant to this article, mobile bingo sites and applications.  It is not really very difficult to see why they are so popular.  For the same fun, excitement and chance of winning a cash prize as bingo in a bingo hall, you can get get from a device that fits in the palm of your hands.  However, if you have still not given mobile bingo a chance, here are 4 great reasons why you should consider playing today.

Designed With Busy People In Mind

Mobile games, including mobile bingo, were designed for people who lead busy lives and are always on the go.  The great thing is that although they have the same thrills, cash prizes and addictive quality as bingo in a physical hall, the games are simplified enough that you don’t need to commit a long period of time to play a game.  Even if you just have the time it takes to wait for a bus or train and travel to work; you still have enough time to play.

Easy To Use And Play

If you have ever played on older online gambling sites, you will know that often they were littered with menus and options.  Most mobile gambling and bingo apps and sites are simplified to make it much easier for you to play on the go using a smaller screen.  As briefly mentioned in the paragraph above, the gameplay has also been simplified so that it is a lot easier and quicker to play a game.  It is easy to see why this suits playing on the go or if you have a short period of time free, such as a coffee or lunch break during your working day.

Compatible With Most Devices

As long as you have either a iOS or Android powered smartphone or tablet, there should be no problem finding a mobile bingo site or app that you like that is compatible with your device.  In fact, you will find that the vast majority of gambling sites and apps are available for both Apple and Google-related products.  So, even if you have seen a game that you like on a friend’s phone and you have a different model that uses a different operating system; you may still be able to play that particular game.

Integration With Social Media

As bingo and its online and mobile counterparts are all very sociable games, it makes sense that many of these kinds of sites integrate with social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook.  This makes it feel less like an insular thing and more like a community thing as you can share your progress or winnings with friends as well as joining up with your friend’s games too.  Check out for mobile bingo at landmarkbingo.

How to Re-Caulk a Bathroom

pic

Whether around the bathtub, sink, or shower, caulking is never going to remain watertight forever. Yours will eventually start to show signs of wear, then begin to crack, shrink, or discolour. This means that it isn’t doing its job anymore, so you need to re-caulk in order to prevent water damage from occurring.

Firstly, you’ll need to assess the caulking to make sure it needs to be removed. Certain areas are more likely to fail than others, so check places which are frequently wet, those which bear pressure, and those which are hit directly by the stream of water from your shower. If there are any signs of damage, it’s time to get re-caulking.

You’ll need to get rid of the existing caulk first, and the difficulty will vary from case to case. You may be able to remove it using a putty knife, but a Stanley knife can be useful to scrape any remaining bits away from your tiles. There are also caulk softeners available to speed up the process. Trying to bond new caulk to old caulk won’t often work, so make sure you get rid of it all. Use the smallest nozzle on your vacuum to remove the debris, then prepare the tiles for a fresh application by moistening a paper towel with rubbing alcohol and cleaning away any remaining residue.

You’re now ready to apply the new caulk. Once you’re set up with the caulking gun drag the tip along in one swift motion which is consistent with the speed at which the caulk is coming out. Wipe the tip clean after each length, then continue along the perimeter until all edges are re-caulked.

If excess blobs emerge, just dip your finger in water and run it along the caulk line to smooth things out. Keep re-wetting your finger whenever you need to do so. If you find a gap where not enough was applied, you should be able to wipe excess caulk from another area to cover it. If not, add a small blob and then smooth it in using a damp paper towel to make it seamless.

Your bathroom is now re-caulked. All you need to do now is pack up the equipment, wait for everything to dry, and then get back to life as normal. Simple.

Considering Cosmetic Surgery? Here Are 4 Things You Should Know

pic

Are you considering cosmetic surgery or laser treatments performed by a cosmetic surgeon? Whether it is breast augmentation, brow lift, liposuction, laser hair removal or nose reshaping that you are considering, here are four things you should know before your procedure.

Recovery Times Vary

Recovery times vary for all cosmetic surgeries and for each person, so speak to a medical professional thoroughly about expected recovery times before going ahead with the procedure. Breast augmentation recovery times can be weeks, sometimes months, whereas an eyebrow lift will only take a couple of days for pain and discomfort to cease. To ensure you give your body the best chance of recovery, follow the advice given by your medical practitioner before, during and post-surgery. It is also important to understand the expected recovery time so you can organise time off work and away from the pressures of daily life.

Visit a Specialist Cosmetic Surgeon

The cost of cosmetic surgery can be significantly high, and depending on the procedure, the price can vary between establishments. When considering cosmetic surgery it is important to visit a reputable specialist in the field with professional qualifications, such as Cosmetic Surgery for Women . Cosmetic surgery can be an expensive procedure and you shouldn’t ever go with the cheapest quote based on price alone. A specialist cosmetic surgeon may cost more, however you can be assured that you are in the hands of a qualified professional who has performed the particular procedure many times before.

Risks and Complications

Once you have decided on and visited a specialist cosmetic surgeon who you trust and feel comfortable with, it is important to understand the risks and complications associated with the procedure, even if there is only a small chance of them happening to you. Each cosmetic procedure comes with a different list of risks and complications, so ask your doctor to explain them all in detail so you know what you may be in for. Risks and complications can include swelling, scarring, infection, bleeding, discomfort, sensitivity and bruising.

Follow Your Surgeons Advice Pre and Post Treatment

It may sound silly, but are you ready to kick some bad habits and follow your surgeons plastic surgery aftercare advice?

Different surgeries have different requirements from you for the best result. If you’re not willing to do what it takes for optimal recovery, cosmetic surgery might not be for you. For example, if you smoke, your clinic will likely ask you to quit smoking for at least a few weeks prior to, and then after your procedure.

This is for a number of reasons, some of which include the vasoconstriction (tightening) of blood vessels that smoking causes. No oxygen-rich blood flow to your surgery area means slow recovery or even an increased risk of infection.

Dietary recommendations, along with alcohol consumption and exercise advice may be given too, depending on the treatment you’re going for.

Do It for the Right Reasons

Cosmetic surgery can be an invasive, uncomfortable and confronting experience, so make sure you are going ahead with the procedure for the right reasons. Don’t go ahead with the procedure if you are doing it for someone else, because you will never be happy with the result if it’s not something you truly want.

Like all medical procedures, cosmetic surgery is a decision that you can only make once you are completely informed about the procedure, the potential risks involved and the recovery time required for your body to heal. Always consult a professional medical practitioner and be open with your doctor about any concerns and fears.

If you’ve had cosmetic surgery, is there anything you wish you knew before going ahead with the procedure?

How to Play Marbles and Other Hands-On Kids Activities

pic

These days it’s all too easy to keep your kids occupied with a game on a tablet or smartphone — they’re mesmerized by the bright colors and noises, you have more free time to yourself.  But there’s a simple, irreplaceable joy in teaching children more old-fashioned, hands-on activities like marbles, card games, and hide-and-seek. After all, these are the games we grew up with. Think of the joy we had in looking at the swirl of colors in a glass marble, or in finding a friend hidden behind a curtain.  Don’t you want your kids to experience that same joy, interacting with the world around them, instead of staring at a screen?

If you can’t remember how to play marbles (or if you never played them yourself), there are loads of great guides online — and many include suggestions for lots of other, hands-on games, too.

Here are four great reasons to get your kids away from computer screens and involved in these kinds of activities:

  • Your kids will develop better social skills — Too often, playing computer games is a solitary activity. But with marbles, sports, and other games, your kids will learn how to interact with their peers, whether it’s trying to flick each other’s marbles out of the ring or playing in a team in a relay.
  • It’s great physical exercise — Games like marbles are a fun way for your kid to develop hand-eye coordination, and more physical activities like tag or climbing trees are good exercise for their muscles and cardiovascular systems. It’s certainly much healthier than swiping away at a touch-screen!
  • Your kids will start to appreciate the world around them — Computer games create an artificial world that mesmerizes your kid’s attention, but we live in a real, physical world that your child shouldn’t be afraid to explore. If they’re outdoors breathing fresh air, laughing with friends, or admiring the visual beauty of a marble, they’re learning to savor all the wonderful things the world has to offer outside a computer screen.
  • You can play with your kids, and create invaluable family time — There’s only so much parental bonding that can happen through a computer screen. But real-world activities, where you teach your kids how to flick a marble or shuffle a deck of cards, also make family memories that will last a lifetime.

Of course, there’s nothing wrong with the occasional game on a tablet to keep the kids busy in a waiting room. But knowing how fun and simple it is to learn how to play marbles, there’s no excuse not to engage your children in the kinds of old-fashioned activities that are healthy for both their minds and bodies. The Internet is full of useful parenting tips — don’t hesitate to make the most of these resources, but once you’ve found what you’re looking for, get off the computer and start involving your kids in good old-fashioned fun!

Why Staycations Have Made Britain Great Again

pic

When the dreaded credit crunch hit Europe, and the most of the world in all honesty, it left people wondering just how they could enjoy themselves still without it costing a fortune. Belts were being forcibly tightened and luxuries were resigned to dreams or celebrities for whom money was no object anyway.

Since those days, a lucky few have found themselves playing football at the highest level or appearing on the countless reality shows, making a living out of doing nothing at all. Yet for the rest of us it’s still a chore to cobble enough money together to help us to have a good time when we really need to.

Holidays are just one prime example of where we’ve been hit, and hit hard. The days of jetting off to warmer climes and feeling the warm sand between your toes, sipping cocktails and lounging by the pool have gone for most of us and the days of family holidays are just a distant memory.

Yet, in true British fashion, we’ve made the best of a bad situation – it’s just what we do!

Rather than sitting at home sulking when our friends, family and colleagues are posting pictures of their latest beach break on Facebook and Instagram while we sit there watching it rain, checking out the best bingo sites and offers in the UK and indulging ourselves in our favourite soaps; we’ve taken to ‘staycations.’

So instead of spending hundreds, even thousands, of our hard-earned and hard-saved money on an exotic overseas holiday, many of us are now choosing to stay in the UK and to see the very best of what Britain has to offer both inland and on the coast. An article by Lauren Davidson in the Telegraph earlier this year quoted statistics from Visit England which revealed that “Brits are taking 16% less foreign holidays today than before the recession.”

These staycations have exploded in popularity in the past few years, mostly because the tourist boards in the local area have realised what is happening in terms of holiday trends and reacted by investing much-needed money into redeveloping the main attractions.

For example, the British seaside resort (as a whole), was tired and run down. The piers were great for walking along but having reached the cafe at the end it was often disappointing to find that it had closed down years before.

Now, the attractions are being spruced up and the theme parks like Blackpool Pleasure Beach are being revamped to keep the visitors coming and even to keep them increasing. Expedia released their annual beach report which showed the most popular seaside destinations to be Jersey, Bournemouth, Blackpool, Torquay and the Isle of Wight.

City breaks are also ‘in’ again, with British residents looking to find out more about the cities they’ve never visited despite them never being more than a few hours away by road or rail (or air if they so wish).

The likes of London and Edinburgh have always been popular with overseas tourists because of their history and traditions, but now the two capitals are growing in popularity with UK-based holiday makers too.

Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, York, Bristol, Cardiff, Glasgow and Norwich are also growing in popularity with people venturing to take in the sights, marvel in the history and to finally tick the venue off their “must go” list.

5 Great Reasons to See La Boheme This Year

laboheme2007As the English National Opera prepares to put on Jonathon Miller’s production of Puccini’s classic opera La Boheme, I give you 5 good reasons why you should see this amazing piece of musical theatre.

It’s In the Top 5 Operas

According to Operabase.com, an authority on Opera statistics, La Boheme is third in the top 5 most produced operas in the world. Only Verdi’s La Traviata and Bizet’s Carmen have been produced more times. Also in the top 10 are Puccini’s other famous works Madame Butterfly and Tosca, proving that Puccini had the magic touch when it came to writing hits.

It’s For Everyone

Unlike many of the other opera out there, La Boheme is for everyone and not just the fancy folk in their fancy limos. There is one big classic death scene but is more touching than anything else and does not take an hour or involve beheadings and Viking helmets. It is simply the story of 2 very poor artists and the woman they both fall in love with. It was written in the verismo, or realistic style and features very natural looking costumes and sets. The elitist critics hated the opera when it debuted in 1896, giving further kudos to it being an opera for the everyman.

It’s Set in Winter

Apart from the great Russian operas, most operas are set in summertime. However, La Boheme begins on Christmas Eve and Act III takes place on a very cold and wintery February morning. The story of the artist heroes trying their best to survive in the icy climates is something that most people can relate to.

It Follows the KISS Principle

La Boheme is different from a lot of operas because it follows the principles of KISS, or Keep It Simple Stupid. There is no need to study accompanying notes or to attend university to understand the ploy. It is perhaps one of the most direct and simple story ever told – boy meets a girl, boy loses the girl, boy gets the girl back, boy loses the girl again. That’s all there is to it, along with the side plots of the love story of Marcello and Musetta and the funny and often heart-warming actions of Shaunard the musician and Colline the philosopher. The easy to follow and understand storyline allows the romantic and beautiful music to take centre stage.

Real Acoustic Singing

While you may have seen opera on TV or at the cinema in the past, if you have never seen it at a proper theatre or opera house, nothing compares to the genuine article. Seeing and hearing it live in the flesh and the performers using the oldest instrument in the history of man and the world, the human voice, is nothing short of sublime. As well as being an enticing and pleasing attack on our ears, it is also a wonderful thing to watch and look at, with complex and beautifully designed clothes, sets and lighting, it all adds to the overall experience.
