How I Keep the House Spotless – Even With Kids Around!

Something I know a lot of people struggle with is keeping their house spotless. Especially when there are kids around. Sometimes it feels like you have a child following you around, sabotaging all of the efforts you make to tidy the house. I’ve had a little practice over the years, and I’ve learned exactly how I can keep a spotless house, even with the kids around.

Get them to Help You

Yes, they might hinder you slightly. Yes, you might take a lot longer to get things done. But, you must remember, you’re teaching your kids healthy habits. As they grow older, they’ll be more inclined to do things off their own back and keep their rooms tidy. If you’re sweeping, buy them their own little brush to help. Make it fun for them. Make games out of the chores, for example, who can pick up their washing the fastest? Who can put the most toys away? Get creative so they see cleaning as fun rather than a chore. If you don’t allow them to help you, when they grow up, they’ll be less likely to want to do these things. You can’t turn around one day and expect them to start cleaning their own room if you’ve never let them help you! It’ll be too overwhelming for them. You need to ease them into it. Once you’ve done this, they’ll get better and the time it takes you to do your chores will decrease. You’ll have an army of little helpers doing a great job of their own rooms and tidying up after themselves! What more could you want?

Teach them to be Mindful of Toys

Kids usually have a lot of toys, but teach them to be mindful. When they’re done playing with one toy, teach them to put it back before they get another. If you don’t, you’ll have a floor full of toys and nobody will want to put them away! By putting each toy away after they’re done, they’ll keep on top of the situation and you won’t get so stressed out.

Get Into a Routine

Try to put some time aside each day to do what needs to be done. Whether it’s the dishes, the vacuuming, or something else, try to set aside 30 minutes to an hour to get as much done as you can. Do it at the same time every day, so the kids know not to bother you or expect you to play with their toys. During this time, you could occupy them with food and a film. Having the right cleaning kit will help you to get things done much faster. Http://vacuumcleanerreviews.co.uk should give you an idea of the most effective vacuum cleaners.

Be Supportive

Be supportive of your kid’s efforts to help. However, don’t necessarily tell them that a job is great if it isn’t. Just thank them for putting the effort in and helping you. This way they know that their efforts are appreciated, and next time you can give them a few tips to improve. Eventually, they’ll do it like a pro. By telling them they’ve done a great job, even when they haven’t, they won’t see the need to improve their skills very much. This goes for anything; if they paint a great picture, you shouldn’t call them a natural. If they paint a bad picture, you shouldn’t tell them so, or tell them it’s good anyway. The key is to praise their efforts, so that they know effort gets you far in life! They won’t expect everything to come naturally to them this way.

Don’t Re-do What They’ve Done

Re-doing what they’ve done shows them that their efforts just weren’t good enough, even if you tell them they were. If you’re very particular about a way something is done, it’s best to give them a different job. Give them something that you’re not so precious about. Don’t get your 4 year old to fold the washing if you know you’re going to redo it afterwards. Give them something more manageable.

Live a Simple Life

Don’t try to have the next best thing; gadgets, toys, clothes, etc. Filling your house with junk just gives you more to clean and tidy away. Obviously you don’t want to go without, but there’s a difference between that and buying things you don’t need! Try to live a simple life so that you have less to worry about. The more space you have, the tidier your house will look too.

Eat Messy Food Outside

A lot of food can be messy when it comes to kids. Even food that didn’t seem messy at first can become messy when a child gets their hands on it. If something is particularly messy, for example a biscuit or flapjack, get them to eat it outside. This is a great idea for sunny days – not so much in the winter. You can also give them a food tray, but you can’t guarantee that they’re going to be tidy with it. Try to avoid messy food altogether if you’re worried about crumbs in your carpet.

Try to be Flexible

The key to keeping your house tidy with kids around is to be flexible. They don’t stay young forever; they’re certainly not going to be asking you for cuddles forever. They won’t want you to play dolls with them in a few years. Make the most of the time you have now. If that means leaving the washing up for a few hours, leave it. If it means that your house is a little messy, let it be. You’ll regret the time you didn’t spend with your kids eventually! You need to find the right balance between keeping a clean house and spending some quality time with your kids. So what if the house is a little messy as long as you’re all happy? Think of it that way!

What do you think of my tips? Will you use them? Leave a comment to let me know!

4 Ways To Make Your Home More Fun For Children

5

Source:

Having children is life’s greatest blessing, but they do change our perceptions of the home. Priorities of comfort and luxury are quickly overrun by a need for safety and fun. Our little ones are the most important thing in our lives, and putting them first is a must.

While we want to keep a degree of comfort and enjoyment for ourselves, it’s important to make the home suitable for children. Playing to their natural love of adventure is key. Knowing how to transform the home can be difficult, but these four tips should help you along the way.

A Bedroom Fit For A Prince Or Princess

A child’s bedroom is their little space. They should feel comfortable inside their rooms and actually enjoy going there. Whether it’s to learn, play or sleep, the bedroom should be a special place for your kid.

One of the easiest ways to make the bedroom more enjoyable is to celebrate their passion and hobbies. Using their favourite sports team, pop band, or television show as a theme is an easy way to ensure they fall in love with the room.

The key is to be creative. These ideas should get your juices flowing.

Make Bath Time Fun

Every parent understands the struggle that bath time can bring. A lot of young children just don’t like it, especially when it comes to cleaning hair. Aside from anything, it can be a little boring for the youngsters.

Injecting a little fun into the bathroom could be the key to improving their relationship with the bath. Thinking outside the box, as this bathshop321.com post does, could help find a way to battle against the problems posed by children’s bath time.

Our messy pups have a knack for getting dirty, so cleaning is extremely important. Make it more enjoyable for them, and it will feel a lot less stressful for you.

Encourage Outdoor Fun

Creating a home for adventure is great, but it’s far easier to promote activity in the garden. It’s probably safer too.

Converting your garden into a child-friendly zone isn’t overly difficult. It also serves as a great way to teach valuable life lessons while also promoting a good relationship with the outdoors environment. In an era where our kids are constantly attached to various screens, this break from the digital world is a welcomed distraction for any parent.

Besides, it’ll also encourage you to get out in the garden more too.

Designate A Space For Creativity

Children are naturally creative, and you should do everything you can to encourage it. Arts and crafts are a great way for you to bond with your child while also giving you a chance to assess various academic capabilities.

You should never stifle a child’s imagination and providing them a space to show their creativity will go a long way. It doesn’t have to be an entire playroom. Even a small desk will suffice. The key is to make them feel comfortable in this designated area.

It might even unearth a real talent.

Awesome Ideas For Completely Transforming Your Family Home

Would you like to make improvements to your home that could completely change the overall aesthetic? Does the idea of altering your home and making it more valuable seem appealing? Then you’re going to love the ideas and suggestions listed on this page. As a busy mother, I know all too well how difficult it can be to keep on top of your property when there are children. However, I’m confident anyone in my position could put all these concepts into practice and produce some excellent results. You just need to make sure you have enough money in the bank to cover all the costs involved.

Renovate your kitchen

Buying a new kitchen from your local supplier could set you back thousands of dollars. With that in mind, it makes sense to renovate the room instead. You can get some amazing marble work surfaces for little expense online if you use auction websites. It’s also wise to sand and all your cupboards and give them a new coat of paint or varnish. When it comes to dealing with the flooring solution, it is sensible to opt for laminate or real wood. The last thing anyone wants is carpet in their kitchen because it will deteriorate and become unsightly very quickly.

Redesign your kid’s bedroom

It’s always a good idea to make your house seem like a home for your children. One of the best ways of doing that is to improve their bedroom. Presuming your kids have specific interests, you should incorporate them into the design. It is possible to find some amazing wall stencils online for almost every character in modern fiction. So, having an image of Olaf from Frozen behind their bed might not be as difficult as it sounds. Just make sure you involve your children in the process. Ask them what they would like, and then try to create it.

Convert your attic

Converting your attic is going to cost a lot of money. However, you should see it as an investment because it will make your home more valuable. What you do with the new space is down to your personal preference. Some people like to turn their attic into a spare bedroom while others prefer to use it for office space. Just make sure you contact a firm that provides rubbish collection ahead of time. You are sure to create lots of waste, and you will need it removed as soon as possible. The entire task should take professionals no longer than two weeks depending on the size of your attic.

The only other thing you’ll want to think about relates to your outdoor spaces. It’s always a good idea to improve your front garden because that is often the first thing people see when approaching your property. The rear garden isn’t quite as important, but you should still try to make it a fun space for your kids. Maybe you should get in touch with a landscaping company if you don’t fancy getting too dirty? There are sure to be plenty of them in your local area.

Things to Think About When Buying a New Sofa

Buying a new sofa can be really exciting. A new sofa can completely change the look of your living area; it’s one of the main focal points, and everybody sees it/uses it. But how do you make sure you’re making the right decision for your living area? Think about these things before you splash the cash:

How Many People Will Use the Sofa?

Depending on how many people will want to use the sofa at once, you’ll need to get a different size. If you only live with one other person, you can stand to get a two seater – however, you’ll want to consider what you’ll do when you have guests over too. If you have a big family, you’ll definitely need a big sofa to accommodate them.

How Durable is this Sofa?

Look at the material and sturdiness of the sofa to work out how durable it is. If you are planning on keeping this sofa for years and you know you’ll use it every day, it needs to be as durable as you can afford. Sturdy sofas will cost you more, but it’ll be worth it in the long run.

Do You Like Colour?

If you like colour, you might like a coloured sofa. One reason I love coloured sofas is because you don’t see them very often. More often than not, people will choose a neutral coloured sofa so that it goes with anything and they can easily create the look of the room around that sofa. However, a coloured sofa can be a lot of fun and will probably look better than you think when styled a number of ways. Don’t be afraid to make a statement with it!

What Shape Do You Like?

The shape of the sofa will have an impact on the rest of the room. A sharp sofa will look entirely different to a sofa composed of soft curves.

Is it Comfortable?

Don’t focus so much on the look of the sofa that you forget to look at the comfort aspect of things. The sofa should be comfortable enough for you to relax on it when you need to!

How Easy is it to Clean?

Finally, how easy is the sofa to clean? If you have young children, you should probably buy a sofa that is easy to clean. You know what kids are like. Accidents happen, and you don’t want them to be present on the sofa forever. A sofa that you can simply wipe over is a good idea for those with kids. Pets can mark sofas too, so remember that if you have a dog or a cat.

Although this can be an exciting time, deciding which sofa to buy is an important decision to make. It’s going to change the look of your living room and will give off a certain vibe to guests. Make sure your sofa gives off the vibe you want and says a little bit about your personality too.

See you soon!

Summer is the time when you should be outside as much as you can, but if your garden isn’t the most appealing of places, you might be put off.

To help you take advantage of your garden and create a space that is suitable for the whole family, here are a few tips and ideas:

Split your garden into zones

One of the best ways to create a garden that the whole family can enjoy is by dividing the space into zones. The amount of areas you can create will depend on the size of your garden, but to make this work you will need to have at least two zones.

By separating your garden into areas, you can give your kids somewhere to play and can have somewhere for the adults to relax. When it comes to designing the area for your children, don’t opt for cheap plastic play equipment, go for wood instead. Things like play frames, sand pits and outdoor games are all ideal.

Create an outdoor playhouse for your kids

By creating a playhouse for your kids, not only will this give them somewhere to play in the winter, but it can also be used for storage.

You can buy a wooden wendy house or a tree house, or you can design and create your own. If you are opting for a wooden wendy house, ideally this should be on stilts so that the damp floor doesn’t rot the bottom of it.

Add an outdoor lounge

If you have enough room, adding an outdoor lounge is the perfect way to transform your garden into somewhere you can relax.

Invest in an outdoor lounge setting and some outdoor lighting and your garden will look great. By creating an area just for adults, you will feel happier spending time outside and inviting people over.

Grow your own food

If you have space in your garden, why not create your own vegetable patch or herb garden? Kids love growing things, and growing your own produce is the perfect way to encourage them to spend time outside.

Having a food growing area in your garden is a great way to bring the entire family together. Kids love doing things as a family and growing your own food is the perfect family activity.

When you have young children, it can be difficult to create a garden that is suitable for the whole family. However, by following the tips and ideas here, you can create a garden that both adults and children will love.

Here’s Why You Need A Handheld Vacuum Cleaner In Your Life!

Almost all households use vacuum cleaners. It’s a popular and well-used invention that dates back to the middle of the 19th century. As you can imagine, today’s vacuum cleaning devices come in all shapes and sizes. The technology used in them means they are more efficient than their predecessors. And they use less electricity too.

Handheld vacuum cleaners are also gaining ground in the popularity stakes. They are versatile, easy to use and have long battery lives. Many homes have these handheld devices in addition to conventional corded models.

If you don’t already have a handheld vacuum cleaner, why should you buy one? After all, your existing corded one does the job just fine, doesn’t it? Well, it turns out there are plenty of reasons to get one of these versatile devices in your life! If you still need convincing, let me give you a few examples:

They are lightweight

When the first handheld vacuums got offered on the market, they were heavy and cumbersome devices.

Nowadays, they are known for their lightweight construction. As you can see from the photo above, you only need to hold them with one hand. In fact, anyone can easily hold them.

You can use them anywhere

Because they aren’t heavy, handheld vacuum cleaners can get used in a variety of applications. For example, you can use them to clean your chairs, curtains and walls as well as your carpets. And if you’re out washing your car, you can use them to clean the interior seats, carpets and roofs too!

Today’s models are of a compact size. This gives you the flexibility to store them without any obstacles getting created. Despite their smaller sizes, the models you can buy nowadays still have a large capacity. So you need not worry about having to empty the container every couple of minutes.

There are plenty of models on the market

When thinking of handheld vacuum cleaners, some of you might recall the iconic Black & Decker Dustbuster.

Of course, there are plenty of other models on the market that you can select. In fact, the Household Appliance Judge website has some excellent stuff on the best handheld vacuum reviews for 2015. Don’t assume that you’ve only got a limited choice of products!

They are cheap to buy

It’s no secret that some of the best corded vacuum cleaners on the market cost a small fortune. The good news is that price rule doesn’t apply to their cordless handheld brothers! Even high-end models are still within most people’s reach.

Are you planning to buy a handheld vacuum cleaner soon? If so, you should check online for deals on the particular make and model you wish to get. In many cases, it’s cheaper to buy them online from a retailer like Amazon. But, sometimes you can get good deals locally – especially when a sale is on!

So, now you know the benefits of owning a handheld vacuum cleaner, when will you be buying one for your home?

My Amazing Tips for Making Cleaning Less Time-Consuming

Toms Baugis

Cleaning your home is a necessary evil. While some people enjoy, most of us find it boring, at the very least. Even if you’re lucky enough to split the tasks down the middle with your partner or delegate some of the easier ones to the kids, it’s still not fun. It can take up a lot of your spare time, especially if you put it off until the weekend. What should be your free time gets eaten up by all the chores you haven’t done during the week. But you can make cleaning less time-consuming if you know how to do it. Use these techniques to stop cleaning taking over your life.

Don’t Let Clutter Pile Up

Before you get out your cleaning supplies, you have to tidy up all the clutter that has built up during the day and week. But if you don’t let it all build up in the first place, you won’t need to tidy it away. To achieve a magical clutter-free home, everyone has to be more strict with themselves. Don’t just drop a book or magazine onto the coffee table, instead put it away or recycle it. Get the kids into the habit of putting away their toys before they get out another one and have plenty of storage around the house to stow things away, out of sight.

Use the Right Products

What you use to clean could make a huge different to how much effort you have to put in, from your vacuum cleaner to clothes and cleaning solutions. If you use something inadequate, you could end up putting in more effort, cleaning for longer or needing to clean more often. Make sure you invest in a vacuum cleaner that works for you, comparing different products like the Shark Navigator vs. Shark Rotator vs. Shark Rocket. Try out different products and read reviews, as well as looking for tips about the best way to use the products you have. You want to make the most of them.

Clean Little By Little

When it gets to the weekend, and your to-do list is full of enormous tasks, it can feel a bit overwhelming. It’s much better to break down your chores into smaller tasks to make them more manageable, and clean as you go. Instead of writing down “clean the bathroom”, you can split it into cleaning the shower, toilet and basin. It will make a longer list of things to do, but you’ll whizz through each task.

Make Sure Everyone’s Pitching In

In this modern age, it’s not far for the lady of the house to do all the cleaning. Of course, if your partner works full-time and you don’t, you might do a bit more of the housework. But everyone in the house should pitch in to keep things going, whether it’s cleaning or DIY. You can get the kids to help too, even if they’re only small. Little ones can put their toys away, wipe a table or put some of the groceries in the kitchen cupboards.

Housework doesn’t have to control your life. If you feel like it’s eating up all your spare time, use these tips to get your life back.

Make Moving House Easier With These Simple Steps

Relocating can be stressful. There is so much to think about. If you have children, you are worried about finding a new school. If you are trying to move to a bigger house, you want as much for your old property as possible. You have to look at the new neighborhood and decide whether you can imagine living there. Then there is the anxiety, wondering whether you left anything behind. Did you make the right decision? It all starts to build up. But we can help you with that. We have got some tips on how to make the move far easier in different ways.

Finding Your New Home

1) Research

You should be doing a lot of investigation into where you are moving too. Perhaps you already know where you are going. Some moves are not by choice. You may need to relocate because of your job. But if you are moving for another reason consider plenty of different areas. Even if you have to find a house in a specific place, there will still be different neighbourhoods to visit. Different schools to look at. We suggest starting off with a company like New Home Finder. This will help you get a feel for the type of houses you will be looking at. You can search homes in a place like Hull and look at your options.

    2)  The House Market

Remember, the housing market may be poor when you are starting to think about buying a new home. If it is, you may want to wait. The housing market always improves. It goes up and down. All you have to do is make sure you are buying at the right time. If in doubt, then speak to someone in the field.

   3) Include Your Family

We know ultimately it will be your decision. You will be taking the responsibility. But you need to realise that this move is going to affect your family. If you have children, they are going to lose contact with their old friends. They will need to make new social connections and adjust to life in a new community. Get them on board with the idea as soon as you can. When you look at new houses, encourage them to think about what room they would like. Talk about the advantages that will matter to them. For instance, perhaps a bigger home means you can finally get that dog?

   4) Take Your Time

Do not rush. If you are on a deadline to do your best to forget about it. This is a huge commitment that you are taking. You need to consider all your options carefully. You are going to a new place and making a new home. You need to know that you will know that your family will be happy wherever you move to.

Easily Increasing Your House Value

1) Tidy Up

Ensuring that you are getting the best value for your house is one way of reducing stress. You would be surprised how simple increasing the value is. First, clean your home from top to bottom. Tidy up the mess and put the dog outside while you get up all those hairs. Make it shine. Make it smell nice. Your home does not need to be luxurious to get a good sale. It just needs to look the part.

    2) Create a family atmosphere

You want to leave one or two toys around the house so that it looks lived in. When people come to look at the house make sure your children are polite. Have them engaged in a family activity like playing a board game or games console?  Put the kettle on and ask the potential buyers to sit down and relax. Talk up the neighbourhood. You may even want to introduce them to the people who will be living next door. Suggest a door of the neighborhood and any local attractions. You can even bake some cakes. Do not start packing up your home until you have made a sale. It needs to look like a place a family will be happy.

Do remember that these are all mind tricks. They make the buyer want the home because they can see themselves living there. Be aware that when you look at buying a house they will be used on you. Now you are aware of it, you can see through the family-time display a lot of sellers use.

    3) DIY

Do not spend a fortune on a professional unless there are serious problems with your house. But do try to fix some of the simpler things yourself. All you need to fix a broken fence is a slab of wood, a lick of paint and some nails. Unclog any drains and clean out the cutters. Consider repainting some rooms if they look a little shoddy. Do anything that is easy and will make your house look more attractive.

Making The Move Stress Free

7932506788_68b31b00f5_zImage

1) Make It A Holiday

If you are relocating in the middle of the summer, make the most of it. When you go see the house, take some time to explore the area. You may want to stay over for a couple of days you can get a feel for the place. Take your children with you. Investigate the town. All of this will make the move seem far more relaxing.

   2) Plan Ahead

Making a plan is a good option when moving homes. Write everything you need to do down before hand. You can tick it off as you go along. Find a school? Check. Prepare the car? Check. You get the idea. Knowing that you have done these things will ensure you stay calm. Find a good moving company in New York to help you move.

  3) Share The Load

Finally, make sure you are not taking the burden by yourself. Remember you have a family for support. Talk it through with them. Get their opinions on the homes you visit. Talk about the advantages of moving and have some fun. Do not forget to spend some leisure time with your children. It is important that they do not feel like life is revolving around the move. You need to keep them happy.

We hope you find this advice useful when you are moving home. Do not forget that a house does not make a home. That is up to you and your family.

What Should You Do With a Plot of Land?

Perhaps you’ve acquired a plot of land or you’re thinking of purchasing one. What you do with it will depend on the size, government restrictions, and even your budget. There are still multiple things you can do with it, so read on for a few ideas to inspire you.

Build a House

A plot of land could be the right place to build a house. However, you need to check that the land is suitable first. It’ll be a case of checking with the government to ensure that you’re able to build on the plot, or you may have to tear all of your hard work down. Some plots just aren’t suitable for houses to be built on, so bear that in mind. Building a house takes a lot of time, money, and effort. You need to contact an architect to design your dream home, then builders to build it for you. It’s a long process, but you could eventually have your dream home. Just make sure the benefits of you building your own home outweigh the benefits of you buying one. In some cases, you might be better off just buying a house and then decorating it and modifying it to your specifications.

Start a Business

You could potentially start a business with your own plot of land. There are so many you could start; a farm, selling eggs, a campsite – anything! If you’re a bit of an entrepreneur and you feel passionately about an idea, you could turn it into a lucrative business. Just bear in mind you should do it purely for the money – that’s where you’ll fail. You need to start a business you love and feel great about, or the novelty will quickly wear off. Working with a good environmental company could help you prepare the land for your business.

Grow Your Own Vegetables and Flowers

If you want to keep your plot of land to yourself and it isn’t large enough for a business or a house, you could grow your own veg and flowers. This could save you a lot of money if you buy them a lot, so it could still be beneficial to you budget wise.

How to Find the Right Plot of Land

There are so many more things you can do with the right plot of land, so let your imagination guide you. How do you find the right plot of land if you haven’t got one already?

  • Define your requirements. You should know what you want to do with the land before you buy it, how much you’ll spend altogether, and whether you’ll make a profit.
  • Make sure you know the area and do as much research as you can.
  • If you’re looking to build a house, look for houses near by that are similar to one you’d like to build.

Hopefully this post has helped you to think about a plot of land a little more clearly so you can select one or know exactly what to do with the one you have. Good luck!

How To Keep The House Cool During The Summer

4

picture image

Summer is approaching, and with comes a lot of warm weather. You have been blasting the harsh winter months and couldn’t wait for the sun return, but careful what you wish. The sun is nice, but the heat can be torturous. Sometimes it feels like you are cooking in your home as you do whatever you can to ventilate it.

If you feel like you are constantly fighting a losing battle, check out these techniques that are bound to make your summer a lot more comfortable.

  1.    Shut Up Shop

It is tempting to open every window and door in the house in the hope that cold air sweeps through the house. In reality, that isn’t the case. What it actually does is let in more warm air and humidity, which makes the problem worse. Keep the house locked tight during the day to keep the heat out, and open it up again at night. During the night the air is colder and ventilates your house more effectively.

  1.    Shade

Your windows have a big part to play. In fact, any part of your house that lets in light is a problem if you don’t have the correct dressing. The curtains, blinds or shutters on your windows should create a shade that creates cooler air. You can then ventilate the cool air throughout the house with fans for an effective cooling effect.

  1.    Relax

What you do during the day when the heat is at its highest will depend on whether you start to overheat or not. There are a lot of household activities that heat up your body so they should be left until later on at night when the house is cooler.

Washing up, doing the laundry and making the dinner during the day might not seem like hard work, but they make a massive difference in the long run. Just sit back, relax and enjoy the summer days.

  1.    Air Conditioner

They are expensive, but they are also essential. There isn’t a better way of ventilating cold air around your house other than an air conditioning unit. They are powerful and effective, far better than fans and open windows.

However, there are some things you need to know before popping out for an air conditioner. Make sure that the unit is big enough for your home and that it is high efficiency. The efficiency ratio, for your information, should be above 10 or 12. If you are struggling, an HVAC company can help you make your decision.

  1.    Turn Off The Lights

Firstly, you don’t need them on during the summer so it is good for efficiency. But, more importantly lights create excess heat and add to the temperature of your home. Turn off the lights that you don’t need to have on and your home will cool considerably.

  1.    Use The Grill

Obviously, turning on the oven will only make the house hotter than it was in the first place. But, you have to eat so start getting more use out the barbeque. You get to enjoy the summer air and don’t have to sit in a house and eat that is already one hundred degrees.
